Welcome to Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen: Where Our Story Begins
Good Food Brings People Together.
There is something special about food made at home. It isn’t just about what is in the recipe. It’s about the people gathered in the kitchen, the conversations happening around the table, the memories we create, and the love that somehow finds its way into every bite.
That belief is at the heart of Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen.
From My Kitchen to Something Bigger
Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen started with a simple idea: make delicious applesauce using simple ingredients and the kind of homemade flavor that reminds you of something a grandmother might make in her own kitchen.
But somewhere along the way, that simple idea became a dream.
I began thinking about what it would look like to take something made with care in my kitchen and turn it into a real business—one that could eventually be found at farmers markets, local stores, community events, and on family tables throughout the Bay Area and beyond.
That is when Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen began to grow from an idea into a plan.
Why Applesauce?
Applesauce is simple, but simple doesn't have to mean ordinary.
I wanted to create applesauce where you could actually experience the apples—their flavor, their texture, and the comfort of something that feels homemade.
That philosophy has shaped our growing collection of recipes, including Original, Cinnamon, and No Sugar Added varieties.
Some people love the familiar sweetness of traditional applesauce. Others want the natural sweetness of apples without added sugar. And some of us want those wonderful pieces of apple that make every spoonful taste a little more like it came straight from the kitchen.
Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen is creating something for each of them.
Building a Business One Jar at a Time
Starting a food business has taught me very quickly that there is a lot more behind a jar of applesauce than apples.
There are recipes to perfect, ingredients to source, food-safety requirements to understand, labels and packaging to design, commercial kitchens to explore, licenses to obtain, equipment to purchase, costs to calculate, farmers markets to research, and hundreds of other decisions that most customers will never see.
And I am learning all of it.
There have already been spreadsheets, calculations, recipe changes, new ideas, changed ideas, funding searches, packaging decisions, and plenty of moments when one answer led to five more questions.
But that is part of building something from the ground up.
I don't want to wait until everything is perfect to tell the story of Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen. I want you to see the journey.
The Beginning of Our Story
Right now, Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen is still at the beginning.
There are recipes being refined, numbers being calculated, funding opportunities being explored, and plenty of work happening behind the scenes to move from a kitchen idea to a sustainable specialty-food business.
That's exactly why I wanted to start this blog now.
Here, I'll share the real journey of building Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen—the milestones and mistakes, farmers-market adventures, new products, recipe stories, behind-the-scenes production, lessons learned, and hopefully, someday, the moment I walk into a store and see a jar of Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen applesauce sitting on the shelf.
For now, though, we're starting where every big dream starts:
With an idea.
A kitchen.
A lot of apples.
And the belief that good food brings people together.
Welcome to Grandma’s Orchard Kitchen.
We’re just getting started.
